Welcome to Music

Mrs. Bowden

Our music teacher, Mrs. Bowden, has been at New Hope for over fifteen years. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and Performance at Azusa Pacific University. She loves working with children, not only in our music classes, but on the chapel worship team too. Her husband is a high school music teacher, as well.

Mrs. Bowden loves kitties, chocolate, and chips and salsa. In her free time, she takes long walks with her husband of 28 years, plays the piano, or plays and reads on her iPad. She also enjoys exercising with a group of friends in bootcamp!

Mrs. Bowden loves to memorize Scripture, and one of her favorite verses is Philippians 2:14, "Do everything without grumbling or complaining."

From Mrs. Bowden

"Our students learn some interesting things in their music classes.  Recently they have learned about many different composers, their musical style, some biographical information and even recognizing some of their famous works.  They have also had instrument demonstrations, both real and by video, of over 20 different instruments, which they could recognize and identify.  This year our students, all the way from preschool through sixth grade, will be learning a little about musical notation ("reading music"), while also performing in several musicals throughout the year."

Music in Chapel

We are blessed to have many talented singers and other musicians here at New Hope Christian School!  Many of our students take lessons on the piano or another instrument. One of the ways we are able to use the singing gifts of our children is on the Chapel Worship Team.  Children in Kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to participate on the worship team based on several criteria, including a pleasant singing voice, a cheerful, obedient attitude, and participation in their music class.  What an incredible joy it is to hear children raising their voices in praise to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Chapel Worship Team

The students on the worship team participate on a rotating basis.
We are so proud of our worship leaders!
